USS GRANT SHIPMATE MINI-REUNION IN WISCONSIN

A group of shipmates (>12) has scheduled a MINI-reunion to be conducted between 5:00PM 6/12 and 10:00AM 6/16, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Manitowoc built 28 EB-designed submarines during WW2 and is the home of the Wisconsin Maritime Museum (WMM). The USS Cobia SS245, an EB-built submarine, is ‘homeported’ at the WMM.

A ‘Tentative’ POD has been developed to permit arrangements for visits to sites and restaurants listed on the POD (see POD tab). You can research the listed sites on the internet to determine your interest level.

The host hotel is the Inn on Maritime Bay and offers a contracted rate of $129 per night, free parking, a free continental breakfast, free WIFI and a complimentary Grant Hospitality Room. To book any, or all, of the days in the MINI, call the hotel at 920-682-7000 and reference the “USS GRANT GROUP”. The contracted rate is guaranteed through May 15th and can be cancelled prior to 6/10, without penalty.

2026 USS U.S. GRANT MINI-REUNION

Friday Evening 6/12 – Tuesday Morning 6/16

1700-1830 The MINI begins. Attendees gather at the SubPub on the Wisconsin Maritime Museum rooftop.
1830-2030   Friday Fish Fry in the upstairs room at the Fat Seagull. 
2030-2300   Shipmates visit in the hotel GHR.
SAT
0700-0900   Breakfast at the hotel or Dali’s Restaurant or Bloom & Brunch.
0900-2300   GHR is open in the hotel.
0930-1230   Visit Pinecrest Heritage  Village, explore downtown, visit Rahr-West Museum or West of the Lake Gardens.
1230-1330   Attendees select a “lunch on your own” lunch location.
1400-1630   Visit Wisconsin Maritime Museum and tour the USS Cobia SS245 or visit the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center (a dairy farm) or visit Pinecrest  Heritage Village.  (The Cobia tour will be conducted by diesel boat-qualified USS Grant shipmates.)    
1830-2030   Group dinner at the Courthouse Pub.
2030-2300   Shipmates visit in the hotel GHR.
SUN
0700-0900   Breakfast at the hotel or Dali’s Restaurant or Bloom & Brunch.
0900-2300   GHR is open in the hotel.
0900-1230   Shipmate groups visit local sites.
1230-1400   Grant lunch in the upstairs room at Fat Seagull.
1400-1700   Shipmate groups visit local sites.
1830-2300   In hotel GHR: Shipmates visit and call-in individual food orders.
MON

0930-1230   In Green Bay, WI: Visit National Railroad Museum or tour Green Bay Packers Lambeau Field.
1230-1330   Lunch in Green Bay, then return to Manitowoc.
1830-2030   In hotel GHR: Catered casual dinner.
2100-2300   Shipmates visit and plan next MINI. [The 2026 MINI ends at 2300.]
NOTES: All activities, except Rahr-West Museum and West of the Lake Gardens, require an admission fee. There is no registration fee for the MINI. All meals are “Dutch”. The Association will provide soft drinks and munchies in the GHR. Some shipmates usually get together at Perkin’s restaurant around 1000 on Tuesday when leaving Manitowoc – ALL are invited.
